I might have been messing with everyone when I posted !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , but I did actually did get slightly intoxicated and order it online. I got it from Tourneau. I was planning on getting it this month and they happened to have a 10% off sale, so I said what the hell and got it. It’s another thing that I’ve wanted for many years, I think since I was in high school. My high school friend had a fake datejust and I lusted after a real one. I waited so long because I thought it would be too small. My Tag is a 42mm and I wanted something around that size. I had planned on buying an Air King in 2016, but then I got laid off. I started to think about getting a watch again recently. I eventually went and looked at the Datejust and changed my mind about the size. So here we are, got myself a new to me Rolex.

I misread Air King as King Air. So disappointed.

The E90M3 Gold Subscription paid off again. I knew about this last week. Apparently I’m paying too much for you to buy a Rolex though.

Not it’s still pretty cheap, although I’m probably going to have to raise prices next month.

I like the magnified date window. It makes the date usable for people of my age. Also, the kind of understated style I’m not used to seeing in a Rolex. Most I’ve seen are on people going for the bling factor.

I like understated; I’m not really a fan of watches with a lot of complications.

Won’t oil field work cover that?
I want in on this, too - make it 1/3 each? Oppo needs a private jet turboprop.

It can be our own puddle Jumper between Spartanburg, Nashville, and Chicago.

Same.
Evidently, he’ll also stop taking Zimbabwean Dollars for the Platinum membership.

The thing i’ve found about smartwatchces is that really, I find the pocketwatch versions to be much more useful.

We have a pilot for it, too

Air Kings are nice, but 4x the cost of datejust.
You like watches and weird comedy, look up Paul Pluta on Youtube.
I wanted the Tag connected, but couldn’t get past the lack of HR monitor on a smart watch.

Thoughts? Would be a hell of a road trip to pick it up in Jakarta.

For 4 mil Let’s get a 737 so we can bring the cars.

I mean, if we’re gonna get a jet, why skimp on a narrow body??

Congrats! My little Timex Marlin has totally reprogrammed by brain on acceptable watch sizes.

I don’t usually like Datejusts and Day Dates much. I usually find the fluted bezels, gold cases, and other fancy details overwrought, but a silver dial, Oyster bracelet, and smooth bezel is about as classy as they get.
I’ll never be able to afford a Rolex, but if I was in the market, I’d go for an Explorer I or a Milgauss. Maybe a 36mm Oyster Perpetual, since it’s like a baby Explorer I. The green crystal and lightning bolt seconds hand on the Milgauss is super cool.

My smart watch has its own standalone number and gets lots of spam

I wanted something uncomplicated. If I could have the same size and face without a date, I would take it.
I really like the Milgauss, but it was more than I wanted to spend.

Air king is 6200, the Datejust start above that.

New, yes, but I got a certified pre-owned one, so it was 4500. Still a lot, but I’ve worn my Tag pretty much every day for 5 years, so I know I’ll get my money out of it.

I am always a bit meh regarding Rolexes. They are nice watches but I do not get their appeal. I do like the Milgauss though.

I think it’s a combination of the name and things like that. They also do almost everything in house, including their own movements. Also seem to be really well made.
![]() 05/08/2018 at 14:10 |

Their movements are robust but horologically not particularly interesting. I can live with that but I think i have a hard time digesting the “1st watch for finance bro” image.
![]() 05/08/2018 at 15:12 |
|
I’ve been watch shopping for a while now and have had several sales people tell me that they finance. I politely told them that I think a watch is something you either have the money for or don’t; you don’t finance one.

I think you have mistaken what i said. by finance bro i mean dude-bros who work in investment banks and other financial institutions. Think Patrick Bateman in American psycho with a touch of Jersey Shore bro-ness.

Yeah I was.
